Justin Bieber Passes U.S Box Office Hits Crown

Justin Bieber
The teen pop sensation and teen pop heartthrobs Justin Bieber Never Say Never has now surpassed Michael Jackson's "This Is It" to become the most successful concert-themed movie at the domestic box office.
Justin Bieber had earned $72.2 million at the domestic box office. Sony's "This Is It" grossed $72.1 million domestically.
Bieber’s "Never Say Never," released six weeks ago, was directed by Jon M. Chu. "This Is It" still holds the worldwide record, having grossed $189.1 million overseas for a global cume of $261.2 million.
Usually, concert films don't travel well. The ten pop artist has grossed $10.8 million at the international box office, a solid number, considering that the "Jonas Brothers" grossed only $4 million internationally, while "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour" earned $5 million ("Hannah Montana" grossed $65 million domestically).
Paramount insiders believe he could ultimately earn $20 million internationally. So far, the movie has done best in Latin America, where star's fan base is strongest.
Justin was produced by Paramount's low-budget division Insurge Pictures. The studio has shied way from calling the film a concert movie, since it delves into Bieber's childhood and rise to pop icon status.
Paramount also took the unprecedented step of updating the movie with new footage early in its theatrical release, so as to encourage repeat business. The move worked.

Rihanna don't diss Katy Perry

The award wining pop singer Rihanna has insisted that her pilfer at 'generic' music was not directed at friend Katy Perry. Rihanna reportedly said last year that she 'didn't want the generic pop record that Ke$ha or Lady Gaga or Katy Perry would do'. But the pop diva said that she was misquoted and the criticism was aimed at songwriters and producers, not the stars themselves. She told Fabulous, "I didn't say that. Did you see the interview? That's not what I said. OK, if anything it was a diss to songwriters and producers who can't make anything other than formula records. "They'll make a song and give it to Rihanna. If she doesn't take it, they'll take it to Katy, and if Katy doesn't take it they'll give it to Gaga. "That's not what we want. We like songs that scream our individuality. We like records that speak for who we are as artists and that are tailored to us."...
