Written by Derülo, and Chaz William and David Delazyn of The Fliptones, "Don't Wanna Go Home" samples the song "Show Me Love" by Robin S. and incorporates an interpolation of "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)" by Harry Belafonte. Most critics praised the song's production and lyrics, while others observed its lack of originality. The song has charted on the Australian Singles Chart, New Zealand Singles Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100. An accompanying music video was directed by Rich Lee, and features Derülo in various dance sequences in an industrial warehouse.

According to Nadine Cheung of AOL Music, "Don't Wanna Go Home" is about "an epic night at the club where [Derülo] is having the time of his life. He's partying 'til the break of dawn and doesn't want to leave." Its hook features the lyrics "Day-o, me say day-o/ Daylight come and we don't wanna go home".
