American recording artist Jason Derülo has new song "Don't Wanna Go Home". The song was released on May 20, 2011 as the lead single from his upcoming second studio album, Future History. Written by Derülo, and Chaz William and David Delazyn of The Fliptones, "Don't Wanna Go Home" samples the song "Show Me Love" by Robin S. and incorporates an interpolation of "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)" by Harry Belafonte. Most critics praised the song's production and lyrics, while others observed its lack of originality. The song has charted on the Australian Singles Chart, New Zealand Singles Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100. An accompanying music video was directed by Rich Lee, and features Derülo in various dance sequences in an industrial warehouse.
"Don't Wanna Go Home" was written by Jason Derülo, and Chaz William and David Delazyn of production team The Fliptones. The latter duo also received production credits on the track. "Don't Wanna Go Home" is an up-tempo dance song, deriving from dance-pop and electropop genres. A sample of "Show Me Love" by Robin S. runs throughout the song, while the chorus is partially constructed from lyrics of "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)" by Harry Belafonte. Meena Rupani of DesiHits noted that the song borrows lyrics from Lil Wayne.Shahryar Rizvi of Dallas Observer also noted that the song's pre-chorus line "from the window/ to the wall" comes from Lil Jon's "Get Low". According to Nadine Cheung of AOL Music, "Don't Wanna Go Home" is about "an epic night at the club where [Derülo] is having the time of his life. He's partying 'til the break of dawn and doesn't want to leave." Its hook features the lyrics "Day-o, me say day-o/ Daylight come and we don't wanna go home".
"Don't Wanna Go Home" serves as the lead single from Derülo's upcoming second studio album, Future History. A thirty-four-second preview of the single premiered online on May 3, 2011. That same day, the cover art was also revealed. The song was sent to US contemporary hit radio on May 10, 2011.It was released for download on May 20, 2011 through the United States iTunes Store. On speaking about the song, Derülo told MTV News that he " wanted to write a song that people could escape their problems, their pain, their turmoil, and by doing a feel-good song, I'm doing just that.
